One topic or one PDF in. A whole course out.

Type what you want to learn, or drop in your lecture notes. SyllabAI lays out the chapters, writes each lesson when you open it, then quizzes you and brings the flashcards back just before you would forget them.

The free plan holds 3 courses at a time.

Start with a topic you picked, or with the notes you were handed.

From a topic

Name the subject and pick a level. You get the chapter outline first, and each lesson is written the first time you open it, so you are not waiting on chapters you have not reached.

From your own file

Upload lecture notes, a textbook chapter or a paper. The course follows what is in the file, not a general take on the subject, and the study buddy answers from the same pages.

What one chapter asks of you

Every chapter runs the same way, so you always know what is left before you can close the laptop.

  1. Read the lesson

Each chapter is a written lesson with worked examples, code where the subject calls for it, and a diagram you can download. Bookmark the ones you want to come back to.

  2. Answer three questions

A short quiz at the end of the chapter. You check each answer as you go, so you see what you got wrong while the lesson is still fresh.

  3. Rate the flashcards

Flip a card, then say how well you knew it. That one tap decides when the card comes back.

  4. Keep the cheat sheet

When you are through the chapters, get a one-page summary of the course. Save it as Markdown or PDF, or share the whole course with a public link.

Cards come back on a schedule, not all at once the night before

SyllabAI uses SM-2, the spaced repetition method behind Anki. A card you know well moves days, then weeks, away. A card you miss comes back tomorrow.

The same ratings feed a mastery panel on each course. It shows a retention score, lists the cards you keep missing, and the next quiz leans on those.

Review you rememberedReview you missedEarly days are stretched so they stay readable.

A study buddy that has read your notes

Ask a question in the middle of a course. If you uploaded a file, SyllabAI finds the passages that match your question and answers from those, so the explanation uses the terms your lecturer uses.

Type, or talk: in browsers that support it you can speak your question and have the answer read aloud.

How it is built

SyllabAI is a student portfolio project, and the code is public. This part is for the people who want to know what is under it.

Uploaded files are split into chunks and embedded. Search is hybrid: full-text and vector results are merged with reciprocal rank fusion.
Gemini
Writes outlines, lessons, quizzes and flashcards. Every response is checked against a schema before it is saved, and a lighter model takes over when the daily quota runs low.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. The Basic plan is free and holds 3 courses at a time. Lessons, quizzes, flashcards and the study buddy are all included. Pro removes the course limit.

What can I upload?

PDF, .txt, .md, .csv and .json files up to 4 MB. Scanned PDFs that are only images will not work, because there is no text to read.

Can I trust what the lessons say?

Treat them like a classmate's good notes. The lessons are written by a language model and can be wrong. If you upload a file, the course is built from that file, which helps, but check anything important against your own source.

Are there limits on how much I can generate?

Yes. The project runs on free tiers, so there is an hourly limit per user and a daily limit for the whole site. If the daily limit is used up, generation is paused until the next day. Courses you already have keep working.

How does the voice part of the study buddy work?

It uses your browser's built-in speech recognition and text to speech, so it works best in Chrome and Edge. Typing always works.

Can I export or share a course?

You can download a course or its cheat sheet as Markdown, or print either to PDF. You can also turn on a public link; people who open it can read the course without an account.

Is my progress saved?

Completed chapters, quiz scores, bookmarks and flashcard review dates are saved to your account.

Bring the notes for your next exam and see the course it makes.
